New Bangles!

The Sunday Studio is still going strong. I am SO grateful to be able to get some work done on a semi regular basis (productivity all depends on Sonny's mood that day, my poor mother!)

I've been spending most of my time filling orders but I did get a chance to try up this new bangle design.




I'm kind of in love with it.
Can I be in love with something that I made myself? Is that too narcissistic?

I am not sure about that, but I want one.

But I will be VERY GOOD and not keep this one. I've got some left over bits from the run that I did that I'll make myself a weirdo out of.

Next weekend, December 10th (sweet jesus) I'll be selling at Trapper Jane's Studio Sale and I'll have this bangle plus these three samples!







If you are in Victoria, you should come by, there are going to be A LOT of great local talents and some pretty AMAZING hand made goodies on offer!

Recycled Birdies

I started making these little guys a little while ago and naturally have taken FOREVER to get photos of them.



Scraps turned into little sweethearts.

I've got a couple more of these that I will (eventually, hopefully soon) post into the shop.
I've got a whole slew of jewellery that I intend to pop in there, and as soon as I'm on Mat leave (two weeks!) I'll get around to it I am sure.

Woodgrain Earrings

I made up these simple woodgrain earrings before Christmas, and like the rest of the work that I've had photographed for a while, they've been languishing in iphoto for months.

Poor things.

2 new rings

I know it's been quiet around here lately. School is back in and I have been under the weather for the last few weeks and I am just starting to feel a little bit like myself again.

There hasn't been a lot of online time, mostly sleeping.

But I did manage to finish up these two beauties.


The silver one was a custom wedding band that I did up for the very lovely Miss Cooper.


And the gold woozy is a reworking of a piece I did back in art school that I came across while I was cleaning up my materials a little while back.

new items in the Shop!

I know that it's been a little while since I've updated the ol' Etsy shop, but if you take a gander over there now you'll see these two lovelies, just waiting to go to someone special!




I am trying a new system where I make something fun and new and pop it in there right away. So we'll see what happens!

Dewdrop ring

I was approached a little while ago to donate to a worthy cause, The Greater Victoria Animal Crusaders, and I wasn't sure what to send them.

I am thinking that I might send them this.





They are having an auction in October and since I had a little time before they needed the pieces for the auction I wanted to make them something specific.

This ring is made from recycled copper and sterling silver and the stone in the center (the dew drop) is a 4mm chalcedony. It's a size 6.
I've blackened the copper on the inside so that the edges really stand out, and the warmth of it is really amazing. It's so much better in real life!
And I've been really exploring texture lately (there are a couple of new band rings that I am loving, and will share once they are finished!)
and I've engraved the center blossom/petal to make it look more like a real petal.

It reminds me of my Amma so much that I am tempted to make another one similar for myself to keep. She had some amazing copper pieces from the 60's and 70's that I remember loving as a kid.

I might have to do that.

But this one is for the auction.

Fossil Pendants (and a pair of earrings)

These are the new pendants I've been working on for the last little while.
I have been in a position to be extra creative, figuring out how to make something interesting without buying any new materials! I had the pendants themselves cut out of silver sheet for another project that ended up not working out the way I intended. And I picked up an electric engraver for yet another project a little while back. And I remembered a fusing tutorial I had at school years ago that I never really explored after that class, and it all came together to make these...



I am really loving them. The pendants are heavy 1.5mm sheet, so they feel substantial, and the engraved feathers turned out so well next to the texture of the fused silver that they really remind me of fossils.

So that is what I'm calling them. Fossil Pendants.
I even engraved an ammonite to see how I would like it,


And I whipped up a pair of earrings too, with the feathers engraved on each one...

with a certain someone in mind, who was hoping for some Janamade earrings with a nature theme.

I really like these guys!

Vertebrae pendant in the shop!

I came across a couple vertebrae that were lurking in my studio and I've listed one in my etsy shop!

I have been really loving the crochet chains anyway, so I've included a champagne crochet chain with each one. (I'll post the other one tomorrow, I am going to try to list something new more regularly and see how that goes. So today, a vertebrae!)
Although I am happy to switch it for a black one for you if you'd prefer.
Or mauve!

Recycled Pendants

These little guys are new at Floating Gold Iceberg too, I think that I may have forgotten to mention that all of the Love Knots are at the FGI store (533 Pandora Ave if you are in Victoria)

They are made entirely from scraps from my studio, I have a whole whack of scraps that I've been saving for refining, but you need A LOT of scraps to make a refining batch make sense, and I am not quite there yet. But I definitely have materials to mess around with! These guys are pretty fun to make too, so I think that I'll make a few more.
