just...need...more...TIME!

ugh! I would really love it if Christmas was just a few days farther away.
That would give me JUST enough time to maybe get everything done.

I hope that everyone out there is having the most relaxed and wonderful of weekends this weekend, that Santa (or whoever) brings you exactly the right thing, and that you stuff yourselves silly with whatever your favorite holiday food is!

Merry Christmas, Happy Solstice(a bit late I know, but we actually had our first annual Solstice celebration at our house, it was lovely, and I'll tell you all about it. After this weekend) and Happy Holidays to all!

Pear Tree Market!

I am a little late in posting this, but if you are around Victoria tomorrow and have a chance to pop in, it's LOVELY.
FGI and Verbena have done an AMAZING job of decorating the space and the ladies who are selling are some of the nicest, coolest ladies I have ever met. Seriously.

I love them all.

We'll be there from 11-5 tomorrow!
Hope to see you there!

Long Beach

Long beach is exactly that, a Long Beach. It's sandy and wide and the waves there are incredible.
I don't surf, but there are lot of people there who do and it's amazing. There were high wave warnings when we were there the second day (all of our pictures are from the first day because on day two we didn't bring the camera, just our suits and some towels -we even left our shoes in the car on day two!)

It was a bit foggy when we were there, but it didn't really matter. It was just such a great trip that a little fog wasn't going to bum us out.

Something else we did on our trip was a puzzle! We set it up on the first night there and just picked away at it in the mornings and in the evenings. Nice quiet fun!

On our last morning in the cabin we tried really hard to finish it, but we had to leave early so we could pick up Norman that we had to very carefully take it apart and transport it in as many big pieces as we could to reassemble back at the lake.
Which we did.
And we finished it before we had to get back into town!

Easter Easter

I am not really sure where Spring has gone so far.
It's Easter already?

I hope that all of you out there who celebrate this weekend are spending the day with family and friends, enjoying the Bounty of the Bunny (Chocolate people)!

I am making crepes for dinner at my Parent's place tonight, and hoping that I might see a single Reese's Peanut butter Egg.

SO GOOD!

Holiday pics

This year was the first time I experienced Christmas with kids around.
Besides when I WAS a kid.

It's totally different.

They are mad excited.

Geoff's twin 4 year old nieces were in town and they are a total blast.

Their gift from us was making their own dolls.

I had prepped up some fabric as fronts and backs, let them choose which side they wanted for each, and then they got to draw whatever they wanted with fabric markers. (I sewed them up after the girls stuffed them)
It was really fun and they were totally adorable. Lauren came running into the kitchen, arms out, and yelled "I am excited to do crafts with you Auntie Jana!"

I love those turds.

"We're not turds Auntie Jana, we're little girls."
I stand corrected.

I tried to get pictures of the dolls when they were finished, but they wouldn't let me, they had to play with them.

4 year olds are fast

Christmas eve was also the first time I got to meet our newest nephew.
good lord so cute.

6 weeks old at Christmas. Norman was snuggled in just before I took this picture!

What I also really love about hanging out with the Girls is how much they love Uncle Geoff. We went to the beach to throw rocks on Boxing Day before we came back into town.

All went smoothly until at the same time, one fell off a log and the other into the water.

Twins!

Happy Holidays!

Geoff and I are heading up Island for the annual Holiday Family Shuffle, so I won't be checking in here until we get back, but I just wanted to send out a little love for the season!

Here's a little treat for YOU!

Butter sauce recipe:
1/2 cup butter (or alternative)
1 cup white sugar
1 tspn vanilla
3/4 - 1 cup whipping cream

melt the butter and sugar together (in the microwave or on the stove top, whatevs)
stir in the whipping cream and vanilla.
Pour onto your favorite foods.

I put mine on cranberry puddin, but I am pretty sure that it would be INSANELY DELICIOUS on ANYTHING.

ANYTHING.

Custom Pet Portrait

I am working on this cutey for a certain someone (can't name names before Christmas!) but I wanted to share.

I've got another custom piece I finished up today, but I don't know if they read the blog so I am going to keep that one under wraps until I know it's safe.

Mable

Remember when I was telling you about my sister's new dog Mable and the House of Dogs we had at my parent's place at Thanksgiving?
Well I finally got the pictures onto this computer so now I can share.

That's Mable in the first picture, looking very alert.
And the second picture is to show all 6 dogs in the same room.
You can just sort of see Murphy tucked in next to my dad on the couch in the bottom corner.

This is what that room looks like every Thanksgiving and Christmas at their house.
