So I was going through some of my scraps today and I came across some earring blanks that I started AGES ago.
Probably 2 years ago.
They got pushed to the back of my drop tray and then tossed into my scrap silver box.
So I decided to finish them and post the results on Etsy.
Oval "Flock" Earrings.
sterling silver, handmade posts.
Two sizes of the new Flock Earrings with center cut out.
Hammered Leaf Pendants (3) on 20" mini tub chain (so cute!) and Earrings.
I've also been working on some bangles.
I know I always say that, but I really am this time!
And these ones have TWO JOBS!!
One side has a twist detail...
and the other side is hammered.
Two bangles in one!

Loving Bird Nerd
I had marked BirdNerd as an Etsy favorite ages ago, then forgot about how awesome it is.
But I was reminded yesterday when I came across one of the prints on another blog when I was preusing the internet (for hours).
I am very sorry that I can't remember the blog. It might have been Bliss.
It might have been This is Glamorous.
Either way, I am reminded to share.
You can find more of BirdNerd here.

I need these
I was perusing the Gravity Pope website the other day looking at summer sandals and I stumbled across these bad boys.
And now I can't stop picturing how CUTE they would be with early spring short pants, like cuffed jeans and calf grazing cadet pants.
holy crap adorable.
And later in the spring/summer with short shorts (we're rocking those this year FOR SURE) and loosey goosey tshirts??
sigh!!

Cutting my own hair, stepping in your own poop and thoughts on a new year.
Not necessarily in that order.
Last night as I was brushing my teeth I heard Geoff extolling Norman about something and got a little concerned when I heard "No buddy! Did you step in your own poop??"
and then the laughter as he tried to corral Norman to the bathroom before he jumped up on the couch.
He did.
Step in his own poop AND jump onto the couch.
So that was a fun precurser to motherhood moment for me, as I sat on the bathroom floor cleaning dog poo out from between Norman's pads and toenails.
And then pulling the sheets off the bed and searching for fresh ones.
And being incredibly thankful that Geoff took care of the couch smears.
Yeah, I bet you didn't think you'd be reading about poop smeared couches today did you?
You're welcome!
This morning I took the scissors to my own head.
I've been wrestling with getting a haircut since just before Christmas, trying to put it off as long as possible.
I really love the haircuts that I've had the last few times I've seen a pro, but I just can't justify $50 for a haircut right now. Especially since it's still cold enough that I just throw on a hat all day anyway.
But I will admit to being just vain enough for it to sour my mood when it hits THAT POINT when my hair will no longer do the nice things I ask it to anymore.
So.
Cutting it myself is the logical answer.
And today, it's not too bad. In fact I might have discovered the easiest and kind of foolproof way to do it myself and stretch out my professional salon visits even longer.
We'll see how it stands up to a couple weeks of wear.
I've been spending a lot of time thinking about this year, and what it means to me.
I didn't really do a resolution post earlier in the month, and taking the extra week in Victoria during the holidays sort of unbalanced my view of it even really being a new year.
It just felt like a regular visit over there and things wouldn't really change.
And I know that things don't just change like that, over night, but I was feeling a new awareness or something.
And then we went back to work and I forgot all about it.
But it nags. Just a little bit.
This IS a big year for me.
I am getting married this year.
I am turning 30 this year.
I kind of think that I have been ignoring just how much that will affect me.
Turning 30 I mean.
For the last few years I've been really excited about turning 30. Like somehow I would have my shit together by then so it was totally something to look forward to.
But my shit? It's kind of all over the place.
I am not going to get into it, but I am currently feeling slightly untethered. Like the strings holding me to the ground are frayed and that once they break I'll fly away.
Possibly to Bermuda.
Working from home is WAY HARDER than I thought it would be.
I really love it when I am having a good day, but staying motivated is the trick when I am not having such a great day.
Plus we are both working from our teensy apartment and sorting that out has been a little bit tricky.
As neither of us has a work from a computer style of job.
Geoff is an audio engineer and needs a lot of quiet.
I am a metalsmith who spends a lot of time HAMMERING the CRAP out of stuff.
Tricky.
I came across this on Design is Mine last week and it felt like a beacon of sorts.
I am going to really focus on what it is I want my life to be, and BE IT.
Or possibly fly to Bermuda.
It's nice there right??

Glorious sun
JD Wolfe is making me flip out!
I want them SO BAD!!
But I am going to be mature and wait until I get paid. Maybe.
That only seems fair.
I ALMOST bought them already. And I might still.
They would be SO FLIPPING CUTE to store my jewellery on my bedside table or ANYWHERE.
And there are so many other amazing things in her etsy shop!
I'm going to work on some new earrings and wrestle with my conscience.

Amazing
I got goosebumps when I watched this!
I will admit to being disappointed that it's a commercial.
But still amazing!
found this on Darling Dexter
Etsy shop Update!
Radness included
I'm whiling away some quiet time in the studio right now while Geoff is working on some audio editing in his studio.
So I have to be quiet as a mouse.
I'm saving my hammering for later today!
And I came across this wallet on etsy.
So cool.

200 posts!
Wow.
I've been nattering on about silly things for a while!
HERE'S SOME MORE!!
I know, you need it.
Last night we had a dinner party at our place with a couple of friends of mine from Art school.
Gabe and his wife Julie and Julie's husband Keith (two Julie's) were the only ones who DIDN'T have food allergies.
So the menu was:
-Spinach salad with Shredded carrots and cranberries.
Delicious.
-Gluten Free Lasagna with a creamy mushroom sauce (instead of tomato-allergies!)
Fabulous
-Individual Gluten Free Mini Apple Pies. With Soy Ice Cream.
Amazing.
It was all delicious, if I do say so myself.
I just did.
I didn't get any pictures of the food once it was cooked. I'd had a glass of wine by then and we ate it all.
Yesterday was also the first day of Sun this year.
We took Norman to the park ad sucked up as much vitamin D as we could.
Lovely!
(for Christmas I asked my dear friend Dee's Mom to make Geoff a Megaman helmet/tuque because she's got mad knitting skills. He had seen one online and asked if I could make it for him, but my knitting skills are currently limited to neck tubes.
She did and he's worn it every day.)
Also, one last thing.
Gabe brought me Indian Jones Toast!
Now I need to shellac it and frame it.
Thank you for listening, 200 times!

Obama Toast
So remember how I was telling you about Gabe's Etsy shop Evolution Laser works and his Macgyver toast?
Well, he's interviewed about his Obama toast Here.
Pretty awesome.

Quick catch up!
I know I have been a bad blogger.
I am hanging my head in shame, dragging my feet all over the house from the guilt.
But here is a fun post to make up for it!
Wee!
We only just got back on Sunday.
I know, we had an extra week of holiday! We got a bit snowed in when we went up the Island last weekend, and ended up waiting for a car part.
While we were home Geoff's brother and his Jade got married. It was so lovely, just a small, close family only ceremony at the Merridale Cidery in Cobble Hill.
Very nice.
Jade looked absolutely amazing in her dress.
She had sparkley gold shoes.
Can't go wrong there.
My Dad got another Tattoo! I know!!
Flaming Hands.
So awesome.
While I was home I tried on some wedding dresses.
(I actually had to run around the store in this one like I was being chased down by Dracula. So much gauze!)
New Years day was spent quietly at Dave and Jade's house. We watched a whole season of Entourage, and worked on a puzzle in lazy afternoon light.
Perfect.
