OOAK Family Ring... maybe it's a Lichen ring? Coral?

I can't remember if I posted this ring already or not, please forgive me, but my brain is not working like it usually does.

But I came across it in my inventory stash this morning and thought "I SHOULD POST THIS!"

Entirely made by hand, two layers of hand pierced silver with a Chalcedony cabochon and a facetet Peridot set in GOLD.  There are a couple gold beads in there for interest too.

I like me some gold bead details.

This is a custom order piece,  made with your family's birthstones if you wish, or just your favorite stone.

This is also something that will start happening in the Summer, AFTER baby.

I'm not taking any commission work right now, just because we are IN THE ZONE and I don't want to commit to work that I can't finish in case Chickpea comes early.

But it's something to think about if you have a special date in the late Summer or Fall!

Wedding bands

A while back I made this ring for Ben and Yona, a lovely couple in Vancouver.

And they contacted me to make their bands for their big day too!
I can't really take any credit for the design of these, as once we started talking about it, they knew what they wanted.
They wanted to use the same materials that are in her engagement ring (recycled 14k gold, silver and copper) and they wanted them in layers so that when they looked down on their hands, they would see plain silver bands, and the copper is sandwiched between the silver and gold so that the gold was against their skin.

I hand forged these babies, which was a learning curve for me as well as an enjoyable therapeutic process (nothing like hammering the crap out of some metal to get your Negatives out!) and I am really happy with how they turned out. So subtle and elegant, the copper peeks through on the sides of the bands to really warm them up and the gold inside lining is so luxurious!

They recieved them in the mail yesterday and love them!
Congratulations again Ben and Yona! I just know that you will be blissfully happy together!

A Spidey (are your senses tingling?) Ring

My cousin commissioned me to make him a new wedding band.
We sat down last summer while at a family BBQ and we came up with this bad boy.

The spider's body is a black diamond and I used my trusty electric engraver to hand draw the webbing.

It's designed so he can wear it with the spider up as the feature or with the webbing as the main event. Either way it looks interesting and feels good!

Jana made this

A little while back I was commissioned to make a Gold Medal in the 2010 Olympic style.

When I started this project I had a completely different idea as to how it would come together.

But when I started working on the original plan for it, it was just NOT coming together as I expected it to.

So I ended up scrapping the first version and redoing it from scratch. Which turned out to be the right thing to do because when I handed it over my client was really happy with it.

I had all these grand plans of laser etching it. But it turns out that laser etching brass is harder than I though so I ended up using my electric engraver and doing it by hand. It took a little bit longer than I thought it would (I had to take breaks every 15 minutes or so from the vibrations from the engraver shooting up my arm!), but I am happy with the results.

(I made a couple of design decisions to make it a little different from the actual Olympic medals so there wouldn't be any copyright issues, but so that it would still feel like something that an Olympian would have received on the podium)
