<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So it turns out the having two MOBILE kids is kuku bananas. Please don't give up on me. I am DETERMINED to get back to this space. Do people read blogs anymore? I only read one or two now, so maybe I am holding on to a sinking ship. But I will be (ahem, attempting) to post here more regularly. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And the WEBSITE is getting a little Spring pick me up, so please pop on over there and take a look in the coming weeks.</div>

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
First of all, let me just say, my husband is an Animal Rescuer. If you have a small child in your house, feel free to sing that in the style of Go Diego Go. Because that's how we say it around here.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>(I apologize for that now being stuck in your head all day)</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This tiny tree frog was hanging out at the playground, as you see here, on the rim of the garbage can. Pretty much as soon as we said "I sure hope he doesn't jump inside it" the little bastard did.<br />
<br />
But don't fear! Handsome Husband swooped in and literally scooped that tiny tree frog out of the garbage can. He <i>(she? How can you tell with frogs?)</i> was released into the garden right behind where this picture was taken, right next to a little babbling brook. Where he <i>(she?)</i> hopefully lived out a full froggy life. <br />
<br />
The ungrateful bugger never writes or calls. No thoughtful Thank You card in the mail.<br />
<br />
Typical.<br />
<br />
<br />
And THIS THING, good gracious, was consumed almost ENTIRELY by me, covertly, straight from the freezer. I thank Gwyneth Paltrow for this thing. <br />
<br />
Good... So good...<br />
<a href="http://www.goop.com/shop/featured/its-all-good.html" target="_blank">(made from this cookbook here) </a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Dr_pqfDnDPs/VECC-i1XncI/AAAAAAAAE8U/cATdjWQyfXY/s1600/IMG_4060.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Dr_pqfDnDPs/VECC-i1XncI/AAAAAAAAE8U/cATdjWQyfXY/s1600/IMG_4060.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
The only thing I changed from the recipe was straight up plunking those chocolate chips into it, instead of melting them into an even top layer.<br />
<br />
<br />
Sonny went to his first NBA basketball game.<br />
This is a big deal you guys. Geoff is a Fan. Of the game itself and also of the Toronto Raptors, who played the Sacramento Kings in a preseason game here earlier in the month.<br />
<br />
I took this picture pretty early after getting to the stadium, the whole place was PACKED when the game started. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cr7PW56uOfU/VECDOwOE1KI/AAAAAAAAE8c/7UINOnaA8uk/s1600/IMG_4152.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cr7PW56uOfU/VECDOwOE1KI/AAAAAAAAE8c/7UINOnaA8uk/s1600/IMG_4152.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
And this kid, was so good. For a kid who can barely sit still long enough to brush his teeth, or put on a single sock this is saying something.<br />
<br />
He and I had to get up and walk around a couple times, but overall he was there and he seemed to have a good time. <br />
<br />
Thank you protective headphones, you are a lifesaver!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7tY7KjkVF7E/VECDQMMLZtI/AAAAAAAAE8k/8Olc-7D9UP0/s1600/IMG_4154.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7tY7KjkVF7E/VECDQMMLZtI/AAAAAAAAE8k/8Olc-7D9UP0/s1600/IMG_4154.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And, last but not least, this Turkey.<br />
Who as of this week, is 6 months old, is full on crawling, is pulling herself up to stand around the furniture and yesterday cut her first tooth. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4JUQ0OTQfAE/VECEDaFNdgI/AAAAAAAAE8w/ePWUlDHVY9I/s1600/IMG_4185.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4JUQ0OTQfAE/VECEDaFNdgI/AAAAAAAAE8w/ePWUlDHVY9I/s1600/IMG_4185.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
Plus give me a break with those gorgeous chunky thighs.<br />
I want to eat her.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3902206545471899785.post-7924971624150776682014-09-23T09:38:00.000-07:002014-09-23T09:38:20.527-07:00Wait, what is this?? I am ALONE???<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Well, I'm not really sure what to do with myself at the moment. The Sparrow is napping, Sonny is at preschool <i>(PRESCHOOL!!)</i> and the giant pile of laundry I was going to tackle this morning is in the same room where the Miss is asleep.<br />
<br />
So obviously I CAN'T do that.<br />
<br />
So hey internet!<br />
<br />
Here's a little recap of the last few weeks...<br />
<br />
I make school lunches now. Because my sweet wee baby is IN PRESCHOOL. And loving it. Having 15 other kids his very same age around is EXACTLY what that Turkey needed. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tET5aVXtvUc/VCGeIIiBuiI/AAAAAAAAE60/CV-DmLGNHSQ/s1600/IMG_3992.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tET5aVXtvUc/VCGeIIiBuiI/AAAAAAAAE60/CV-DmLGNHSQ/s1600/IMG_3992.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
We live on campus at UBC, which is pretty kick ass if you don't mind me saying so. I'm crossing my fingers that I will make a couple friends... some of the moms and dads at preschool seem cool and nice. But I am not going to be a weirdo and force the issue. I will be cool. <br />
<br />
JUST BE COOL. <br />
ahem.<br />
<br />
Back to living on campus...<br />
We haven't done a major exploration yet, just a few nice long walks here and there before classes started, but there is some very seriously cool things nearby.<br />
<br />
Like THIS! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bDbf7Qm48KY/VCGeYyq2TcI/AAAAAAAAE7E/Ho8IdxjIHlw/s1600/IMG_3912.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bDbf7Qm48KY/VCGeYyq2TcI/AAAAAAAAE7E/Ho8IdxjIHlw/s1600/IMG_3912.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qihks7iBwOk/VCGeXR16E-I/AAAAAAAAE68/6XJEijmvFco/s1600/IMG_3913.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qihks7iBwOk/VCGeXR16E-I/AAAAAAAAE68/6XJEijmvFco/s1600/IMG_3913.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
The Biodiversity museum is home to this amazing Blue Whale skeleton <i>(I'm pretty sure its a Blue Whale, I could look it up and confirm but I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH TIME I HAVE before the Sparrow wakes up from her nap and hell no I am not going to Check my Blog for Inaccuracies. That's ridiculous)</i><br />
<br />
We are going to go back THERE soon, for sure.<br />
<br />There are sprawling avenues like this all over the place...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DWvKwN0GaII/VCGeaFUB5nI/AAAAAAAAE7M/n-ovbr64Nc4/s1600/IMG_3914.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DWvKwN0GaII/VCGeaFUB5nI/AAAAAAAAE7M/n-ovbr64Nc4/s1600/IMG_3914.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<i>(hey cute husband!)</i><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HNef_3G19j8/VCGee7-VyHI/AAAAAAAAE7Y/IJHUd-fkxVw/s1600/IMG_3916.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HNef_3G19j8/VCGee7-VyHI/AAAAAAAAE7Y/IJHUd-fkxVw/s1600/IMG_3916.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
This castle is the Chemistry Building.<br />
Please Chemistry, give me a break.<br />
<br />
And there is a plaza with ten or so of these weirdos. Lounge Poofs for Lounging.<br />
Sonny was impressed.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mu21h5UrAEE/VCGeg0ta6TI/AAAAAAAAE7k/L8k1bpKtNQY/s1600/IMG_3917.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mu21h5UrAEE/VCGeg0ta6TI/AAAAAAAAE7k/L8k1bpKtNQY/s1600/IMG_3917.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
Pretty flowers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pVH6AQCqKJ4/VCGelTMTTmI/AAAAAAAAE7s/cnxSDJreSVk/s1600/IMG_3918.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pVH6AQCqKJ4/VCGelTMTTmI/AAAAAAAAE7s/cnxSDJreSVk/s1600/IMG_3918.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
And this view, from the Rose Garden.<br />
<br />
Yeah, UBC has it's own fancy shmancy Rose garden. <br />
<br />
With those mountains.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-b0QWLsLMLnE/VCGemI3ycqI/AAAAAAAAE7w/wS3uVxuD0sQ/s1600/IMG_3919.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-b0QWLsLMLnE/VCGemI3ycqI/AAAAAAAAE7w/wS3uVxuD0sQ/s1600/IMG_3919.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So once upon a time I wrote this blog.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And then we had another baby.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
This lovely little Sparrow.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-L9RAvTEACsM/VBJ-pXbfuZI/AAAAAAAAE58/70VU0Ipi-sM/s1600/IMG_2538.JPG" height="640" width="640" /></div>
Who is completely ADORED by all of us. Especially her big brother. Who is The Best. Holy shit, the BEST big brother there is. Sometimes a little too rough and tumble, sometimes a little frustrated with how small she is, how much she needs us and how often we say "STOP DOING THAT TO HER!"<br />
<br />
"NOT HER HEAD!"<br />
<br /> "DON'T YANK ON HER ARM LIKE THAT!"<br />
<br />
But those moments are interspersed with moments like this...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2aSLdILTSSk/VBJ-4wexhTI/AAAAAAAAE6E/imE7lp4ZrUM/s1600/IMG_3053.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2aSLdILTSSk/VBJ-4wexhTI/AAAAAAAAE6E/imE7lp4ZrUM/s1600/IMG_3053.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
Every morning he climbs into bed with us and has to day good morning to her, his favorite lately is<br />
"Nice to MEET you Hazuu! Nice to MEET you HAY ZUUU"<br />
<br />
It's absurdly cute.<br />
<br />
And moments like this... <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oQkQJnhnI9E/VBJ_GP_aMII/AAAAAAAAE6M/Ll0pDGLv0Ps/s1600/IMG_3290.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oQkQJnhnI9E/VBJ_GP_aMII/AAAAAAAAE6M/Ll0pDGLv0Ps/s1600/IMG_3290.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
And this...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LRFIvX1EREc/VBJ_RSHc3VI/AAAAAAAAE6U/l4RJhHz1rzI/s1600/IMG_3522.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LRFIvX1EREc/VBJ_RSHc3VI/AAAAAAAAE6U/l4RJhHz1rzI/s1600/IMG_3522.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
I was told while I was pregnant that having two is Exponentially more work. That it's really hard and that I can kiss my free time goodbye. Which has been more or less the case. Except for the Exponentially part. She has been a DREAM baby. <i>(up until last week, an unbelievable, super chill little dream baby. Now she is teething and on the verge of crawling and FLIPPING MAD about it) </i> Yes there have been times when I have literally pulled my hair out in frustration. Days when Sonny has needed more from me than I could give him and the guilt that made it that much worse. <br />
<br />
Days when there has been no time for me AT ALL, no time for Geoff, no time for anything other than taking care of these two perfect humans THAT WE MADE.<br />
<br />
But they are both so wonderful and funny and I could not imagine life without them.<br />
<br />
And I am so aware of how lucky we are.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Oh yeah, and we moved to a new city.<br />
So now we are doing it without family around.<br />
<br />
So, in light of this, Janamade is taking a hiatus.<br />
<br />
While we are back in Vancouver <i>(Yep, we're back!) </i>my kit is in storage and I will not be making jewellery. At least, not a lot. We might be able to swing trips back to the island where I get time to work on the odd commission. But it will be few and far between.<br />
<i> </i><br />
It's hard to think about not working or making right now, but it's also TOTALLY INSANE around here. So I am not going to take on any extra stress at this point.<i></i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i><br /></i>
And in light of the shift away from work and back towards family life, this little space here will be changing as well.<br />
<br />
Don't worry, it won't all be pictures of my kids. There will be some Mom, but I am not super comfortable spreading their faces on the internet, so they will be sparse. <br />
<br />
So I don't know what will happen to this space actually.<br />
<br />
I am hoping to start drawing again. That has been on my mind a lot. But until I can get this little Sparrow of mine to sleep ON HER OWN, ever, that is still on the back burner.<i> </i><br />
<i><br /></i>
So follow along if you wish, if I haven't lost you already.<i></i><br />
<br />
And now I have to go get her out from under the armchair. I kid you not. She's already giving us a run for our money. <i> </i><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I can't remember if I posted this ring already or not, please forgive me, <i>but my brain is not working like it usually does.</i><br />
<br />
But I came across it in my inventory stash this morning and thought "I SHOULD POST THIS!"<br />
<br />
Entirely made by hand, two layers of hand pierced silver with a Chalcedony cabochon and a facetet Peridot set in GOLD. There are a couple gold beads in there for interest too.<br />
<br />
I like me some gold bead details.<br />
<br />
This is a custom order piece, made with your family's birthstones if you wish, or just your favorite stone.<br />
<br />
This is also something that will start happening in the Summer, AFTER baby.<br />
<br />
I'm not taking any commission work right now, just because we are IN THE ZONE and I don't want to commit to work that I can't finish in case Chickpea comes early.<br />
<br />
But it's something to think about if you have a special date in the late Summer or Fall!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3902206545471899785.post-25900765662788736352014-02-27T16:20:00.001-08:002014-02-27T16:20:59.650-08:00The Chop and The Bump<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
So I finally did it. After MONTHS of thinking about it and dreading the scarf and jacket season <i>(does your hair turn into a nest for birds or rats at the back of your head when you wear a scarf? Because mine sure as hell does)</i><br />
I chopped off my hair. At least 8 inches I think.<br />
It was rolling around the middle of my back and it was great, for years I kept it long. But it was time.<br />
<br />
Every ten years or so I chop it off short, and it had been at least 13 this time around.<br />
<br />
I realize that chopping off a lot of my hair while PREGNANT is a questionable decision.<br />
I went into it recognizing that I might cry like a teenager for weeks afterwards.<br />
<br />
But you know what?<br />
Nothing!<br />
<br />
Not a single tear!<br />
<br />
Not once have I looked in the mirror and gone "WHAAAT HAVE I DONE??"<br />
<br />
Some days it's a little goofy. I will happily admit that.<br />
Like in this first picture.<br />
<br />
Also why do I always have to make that face??<br />
<br />
But all in all, it's great. <br />
Plus, I am still basically doing what I did before, which is blast dry my bangs and then let the rest fend for itself.<br />
<br />
When I first did it <i>(it's been about a month I think now)</i> I actually used a CURLING IRON on the top sections, because they are <i>juuust</i> short enough that the curl is gone.<br />
<br />
But that's INSANE.<br />
I'm going to have another BABY in 2 months.<br />
<br />
I can't go around CURLING MY HAIR everyday.<br />
I'm lucky if I remember to brush my teeth in the mornings. NOW.<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Plus I went out and bought myself some dry shampoo <i>(WHY is that stuff so smelly?? Does anyone make a non/mildly scented version of that stuff??)</i> and some "molding paste" or some other crazy product <i>(equally smelly)</i> to rub into it on non wash days, because let's be real here.<br />
<br />
TWO KIDS.<br />
<br />
But I likes it and I'm super glad I did it.<br />
The lovely gals at <a href="http://shampoohairbar.com/" target="_blank">Shampoo Hair Bar</a> treat me right, if you are in the area and want a great cut. <br />
<br />
Also, side note, LOOK AT MY BELLY! I'm at 30 weeks in this picture.<br />
<br />
I have literally only taken THREE pictures of my pregnant self. All of them terrible.<br />
But if you really want to see, I am growing nearly EXACTLY like I did last time, only Chickpea is riding lower. Whatever THAT means.<br />
<br />
Plus I'm bitchier about it this time.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3902206545471899785.post-84806872309210958922014-02-04T15:18:00.001-08:002014-02-04T15:18:42.826-08:00The Fox is this weekend!My lovely friends <a href="http://wanderinghive.com/" target="_blank">Jen</a> and <a href="http://www.toyandming.com/" target="_blank">Joanne</a> organize the incredible <a href="https://www.facebook.com/events/557406417688565/" target="_blank">Fox Fair</a> every February.<br />
This is the 4th year now and it's one of my absolute favorite markets.<br />
<br />
The vendors are great, the music is fun and the energy the whole time is just so wonderful.<br />
I always get a little silly at markets, and I am guessing that since this will be my last face to face market before baby arrives, that I will be sillier than ever.<br />
<br />
I will not be packing chocolate covered almonds this year... our usual Power Pellet staple snack, because Terrible Truffles is a vendor this year! <br />
<br />
They make a cassis truffle in white chocolate that is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE and I will be budgeting extra cash to eat a lot of them this weekend.<br />
<br />
A lot.<br />
<br />
I am bringing some new bangles to this market, I ordered some new stamps that I am really excited about, a Bee, an Arrow, and a new Crescent Moon.<br />
<br />
Oh they are so sweet!<br />
<br />
I've made some new recycled charms with the new shapes, along with some more birds, and these new bangles!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-33zKOi9H-Dw/UvFyT2WWUNI/AAAAAAAAE3Q/mXxRI-11zGs/s1600/61301_609992425739583_1557486764_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-33zKOi9H-Dw/UvFyT2WWUNI/AAAAAAAAE3Q/mXxRI-11zGs/s1600/61301_609992425739583_1557486764_n.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
I'm not sure what to call them yet, it's just in time for Valentine's so they could be Cupid's Bangles, or Flight of Arrows??<br />
<br />
Not sure what their name is yet, but they are pretty darn cute.<br />
I'll be bringing 10 finished ones with me, as well as more Birdie Bangles.<br />
<br />
And new Leather Feather earrings!<br />
I've updated the shape and there are some new printed colours in there and I am working hard to not keep them all for myself.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ds--rGhk50I/UvFzLMXP2yI/AAAAAAAAE3Y/Uv0XNgW9MD8/s1600/1797374_10153847876655347_1642466483_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ds--rGhk50I/UvFzLMXP2yI/AAAAAAAAE3Y/Uv0XNgW9MD8/s1600/1797374_10153847876655347_1642466483_n.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
Which is ridiculous because there are something like 30 new pairs.<br />
<br />
And I've got the new Bronze Cocktail rings on my bench getting cleaned up over the next couple of nights as well.<br />
I only have 8 of them, but they are pretty nice. If I do say so myself.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uoMgjJAkhok/UvFzmGxhR5I/AAAAAAAAE3g/sN84ainbjx0/s1600/1176390_610625279009631_1854377788_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uoMgjJAkhok/UvFzmGxhR5I/AAAAAAAAE3g/sN84ainbjx0/s1600/1176390_610625279009631_1854377788_n.jpg" height="640" width="480" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>(these shots aren't the greatest, I have only been using my iphone to get pictures at night while I am working... but I am charging the battery for the real camera AS WE SPEAK, so to speak) </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And I will also be bringing a few sample pieces that have been hanging out in the studio, just waiting for the light of day to grace themselves...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Like this one...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Metallic Leather Torc style thing?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Yes please!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I think I might sell these ones extra reasonably, sample style, because I am not sure about the design totally. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Come on down to the Fox this weekend and check out all this great new stuff!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's my last market for a while, and I would love to see your lovely faces there.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'll direct you to the Truffle booth, don't you worry my dears!</div>

We are coming up to day 4 of Head Cold 2014 around here.<br />
<br />
It's been mostly Sonny really. Geoff and I are just getting it now. <br />
But whoa, for a kid who is usually pretty mellow, we've had some pretty amazing meltdowns in the last few days.<br />
<br />
So he's watching ANOTHER episode of Dora the Explorer <i>(why does she always have to yell??)</i><br />
while I putter around the house and try to stay on top of things.<br />
<br />
I have NO idea of what we will eat for dinner.<br />
<br />
So I know what I will be doing for the next little while I guess.<br />
<br />
Figure THAT out, is the answer. In case you weren't sure.<br />
<br />
please bear with me... pregnancy brain <i>(aka The Stupids)</i> plus headcold = s l o o w J a n a. <br />
<br />
<i>(I love this picture of us from this summer. That HAIR! Oh those curls were so out of control!</i><br />
<i>Taken by the always lovely <a href="http://www.centricphotography.com/" target="_blank">Stephanie Rae</a>)</i>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3902206545471899785.post-17827662923544675862014-01-16T14:35:00.000-08:002014-01-16T14:35:01.852-08:00Sketchbook<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

A little peek into what Spring is shaping up like.<br />
<br />
Long chains with Barnacle pendants!<br />
New Leather Feather Earrings!<br />
Chain style Charm Bracelets!<br />
<br />
Plus some returning favorites... Recycled pendants and charms, Barnacle Earrings <i>(in copper AND in silver!)</i> all of the Birdie series are still in action (bangles, charms, pendants and maybe some earrings? We will see.<br />
<br />
I'm working on a big order for a new account right now, and then I am going to jump right into commissions and inventory for The Fox Fair! <br />
<br />
The Fox will be my last market before baby, but I am working hard to maintain accounts until the very end, and then I am even hoping to come back after a shorter maternity leave this time!<br />
<br />
Fingers crossed this baby is into it.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3902206545471899785.post-82365118287646945382014-01-14T13:43:00.003-08:002014-01-14T13:47:26.954-08:00Ceramics!I started taking a ceramics class in the fall with my lovely friend Paige <i>(who is the genius behind <a href="http://blackbirdstudios.me/" target="_blank">Blackbird Studio</a> and <a href="http://congresscollective.ca/" target="_blank">The Congress Collective</a>)</i> and I had kind of forgotten how much I LOVE it.<br />
<br />
We did ceramics for two years during my Foundation Arts program back in <i>*gasp*</i> 1999 (!!) and I really liked it, but it wasn't the Passion. So once I was finished that program I didn't take another class, even though I really like it.<br />
<br />
So when Paige offered open studio classes at her studio I jumped at the chance to get back into it.<br />
<br />
These are all the pieces that I made in the Fall, all of them Christmas gifts.<br />
<br />
Actually, if I am totally honest, Sonny claimed one as his, so I am thinking of making three more and making him set of little tumblers!<br />
<br />
THE CUTENESS!!<br />

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UNWVvucmp44/UsturtEEZTI/AAAAAAAAE0I/PvP8gI05mBg/s1600/IMG_1415.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UNWVvucmp44/UsturtEEZTI/AAAAAAAAE0I/PvP8gI05mBg/s1600/IMG_1415.JPG" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
My Stellar ring is one of my absolute favorites. It's so simple, but still has some whimsy and it just feels right on my hand.<br />
<br />
When Geoff proposed to me, I had a really hard time deciding on which of two designs I wanted.<br />
<br />
Did I want to make myself a stellar ring in gold with 2 little diamonds and just have the one ring.<br />
Or did I want to have an engagement ring and a band that I would wear as a set?<br />
<br />
I decided that I wanted us to both have bands. And my Mom offered me her original diamond when we told her we were getting married. <i>(and it's just slightly too big for the Stellar design - OH THE HARDSHIPS!)</i><br />
<br />
<br />
So I made my sweet little ring and a gold band to match Geoff's.<br />
<br />
I have since altered BOTH of those rings for various reasons.<br />
<br />
Ridiculous I know, trust me! But I had good reasons both times!<br />
First that Geoff gave me my Chrysoprase ring by <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/KyleAnneMetals?ref=shop_sugg" target="_blank">KyleAnne Metals</a>, which I still wear every single day. And I wore it with my wedding band, so I sized my engagement ring down to wear on my right hand.<br />
<br />
Then about a year later I switched the chrysoprase over to my right hand and my engagement ring spent some time in my jewellery drawer. Because it was too small for my left hand now.<br />
<br />
So it got sized up again and is back in rotation.<br />
<br />
I feel weirdly MORE married when I am wearing it. Even though I wear my wedding band every day.<br />
<br />
And my wedding band also has had a transformation.<br />
I originally made a simple flat band in gold to match the silver one that Geoff wore.<br />
<br />
Now it is forged down narrower and I added a layer of white gold on top so that it looks similar in colour to Geoff's, and has a shiny gold center!<br />
<br />
I really love it. <i>(I loved it before, but I really wanted them to match. More)</i><br />
<br />
But my stellar ring! I keep coming back to it.<br />
I wear it with my wedding band and it looks great stacked with the simplicity of the narrower band.<br />
<br />
So I have decided that I will make myself a Family ring, with little set stones for each of us. Set in gold. In the Stellar style.<br />
<br />
I am very excited about this.<br />
<br />
I told you. In no way a productive post!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3902206545471899785.post-21348633790574585032013-12-23T06:00:00.000-08:002013-12-23T06:00:13.641-08:00New work in Bronze!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A little while back I started thinking about new ways to work when Chickpea arrives, since I won't be taking an official mat leave like last time. And since I remember pretty clearly the ZERO extra time I had I wanted to think of ways to work that were a little less labor intensive.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I LOVED casting when we did it at school. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Like, a lot. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And it's something that I can do I am hoping once we've settled into New Baby Life a little bit that won't kill me or anyone around me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I carved up these waxes and sent them off to be cast in Vancouver. Unfortunately there isn't anyone doing commercial casting on the island <i>(at least that I could find)</i> so shipping them to the mainland is my current option.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But the designs are all hand carved by me, and all of the clean up is done by me, AND some lovely person is casting them by hand.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I am really excited to be able to offer BRONZE as a new material as well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The colour is gorgeous, these rings are nice and weighty, and they feel good on the hand.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have two more ring samples on my bench to clean up, probably after the holidays, and some earrings too.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But I am excited, and I hope you are too!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>I will post some into the shops in the new year, and get this new series rolling out to stores as well. </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
xo</div>
<br />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3902206545471899785.post-20502763154382249752013-12-21T16:46:00.001-08:002013-12-21T16:46:45.658-08:00Getting ready for Christmas around here, and a DIY<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-34uEMwT40d0/UrYxNwU4szI/AAAAAAAAEyU/kdcHo0LSsIk/s1600/IMG_1793.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-34uEMwT40d0/UrYxNwU4szI/AAAAAAAAEyU/kdcHo0LSsIk/s640/IMG_1793.jpg" width="480" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We were planning on getting a living tree for Christmas this year, so that we could keep it for a couple of years, and then plant it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But it turns out that the smallest ones we looked at were $50 and then my mom offered us their old tree for FREE it kind of just worked out that we snagged the free tree.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Their old tree is an artificial 7.5 foot some kind of coniferous looking beast, which in their place totally works, but in our apartment would loom. Menacingly.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I just set up the top half and it worked great!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We are working on the No Touching of the ornaments with Sonny.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
He really wants to touch them all. All the time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We're working on it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And something else, totally unrelated to the holidays, is this bed railing that I built for his toddler bed.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
He's got a convertable crib/bed from ikea and about 4 months ago I think, we decided it was time for him to loose the railing and be able to climb out on his own.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>I think it was the getting up at 5 am yelling at us to let him out so he could play that got us thinking about it.</i> </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But we couldn't order the ikea railing, that was a beautiful $15 whole dollars online due to warehouse something or others, and I wasn't in a position to drive over for an item less than $20.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That would be crazy.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I checked out a couple DIYs that I saw on pinterest and made this!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-28tdIdoINS0/UrYyxbYk8aI/AAAAAAAAEyg/0kiWmMftweI/s1600/IMG_1753.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-28tdIdoINS0/UrYyxbYk8aI/AAAAAAAAEyg/0kiWmMftweI/s640/IMG_1753.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oy6fRjLGiiI/UrYyyK6OiPI/AAAAAAAAEyk/oU9I9NQQMY8/s1600/IMG_1754.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oy6fRjLGiiI/UrYyyK6OiPI/AAAAAAAAEyk/oU9I9NQQMY8/s640/IMG_1754.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0dHy9KAjzVk/UrYy5Ksr-RI/AAAAAAAAEzE/d7dDNVQKffc/s1600/IMG_1755.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0dHy9KAjzVk/UrYy5Ksr-RI/AAAAAAAAEzE/d7dDNVQKffc/s640/IMG_1755.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
The felt furniture pads keep the railing from damaging the bedframe, and also help snug the brackets up to make it more secure.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SM6zWjIXh3Y/UrYy4SxucQI/AAAAAAAAEy8/7kE7Sw9V5_s/s1600/IMG_1756.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SM6zWjIXh3Y/UrYy4SxucQI/AAAAAAAAEy8/7kE7Sw9V5_s/s640/IMG_1756.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-e96MURPlCIo/UrYy4DiXHCI/AAAAAAAAEy4/RfZbObkPkXE/s1600/IMG_1757.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-e96MURPlCIo/UrYy4DiXHCI/AAAAAAAAEy4/RfZbObkPkXE/s640/IMG_1757.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
It's great because it just slides right on, and he can climb out on his own in the morning.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7abkevzJCQ8/UrYy8vIvxNI/AAAAAAAAEzQ/vk1SmUloI-I/s1600/IMG_1758.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7abkevzJCQ8/UrYy8vIvxNI/AAAAAAAAEzQ/vk1SmUloI-I/s640/IMG_1758.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SEaMukhUeFQ/UrYy9cc1meI/AAAAAAAAEzY/LOzR5mRrz7k/s1600/IMG_1759.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SEaMukhUeFQ/UrYy9cc1meI/AAAAAAAAEzY/LOzR5mRrz7k/s640/IMG_1759.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And then in the morning we just slide it under his bed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We tried the pool noodle wrapped in a towel for a while, but it took up a lot of his sleeping real estate, so this is a better option for him. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Plus he's a roller.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Before we sorted this out he rolled out of bed a few times. Never woke up, but would have FLIPPED OUT if he woke up on the floor.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Plus the first night he rolled out, I am not even sure how he managed it, but he got himself rolled out of the bed, turned around and pressed up against the heater.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In, like, an hour.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
No roll outs with this baby! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I got everything from the Home Depot, spent maybe $30, and once my father in law helped me cut the corners off the board it took a whopping 20 minutes to put together.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now I have plans to build shelves for the bathroom!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Heck yeah I do! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-R44ViLMxtBo/Up0bxqNP13I/AAAAAAAAEyE/MKReRQvVNag/s1600/IMG_1149.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-R44ViLMxtBo/Up0bxqNP13I/AAAAAAAAEyE/MKReRQvVNag/s640/IMG_1149.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
This Turkey is going to be a big brother.<br />
!!!<br />
We're halfway to Kiddo number two, we had our ultrasound today and we got to see Chickpea for the first time, and their scan profiles look eerily similar.<br />
<br />
Which is pretty fantastic since This Guy is a dream.<br />
<br />
We're not going to find out the gender this time. We've been calling 'it' Chickpea since the stage that they were the size of one and it's pretty much stuck. Our US tech this afternoon knows 100% what it is, and I was going to let her report it and ask our midwives to not tell us, but I know that Geoff is keen to experience the big birth reveal and on impulse just before we left, I went back and asked her to not report it. So she's the only one who will know until the Spring when Lil Chickpea makes their debut.<br />
<br />
It's kind of killing me, because I want to know SO BAD, and I have a feeling, but I am not spilling the beans and I am going to wait it out like a Mature Adult.<br />
<br />
Ugh!<br />
<br />
I'll start posting Bump Pictures once I start taking them. I have one already, but it's terrible!<br />
Actually I might just post all terrible pics as a Thing I Do.<br />
<br />
It's my style!<br />
xox<br />
<br />
Their due dates are two days apart. My fingers are crossed that they don't have the same birthday when all is said and done.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3902206545471899785.post-66064720938546496962013-11-26T06:00:00.000-08:002013-11-26T06:00:04.069-08:00This might need to happen soonIf you follow me on Pinterest, you will have noticed that lately I am pinning a LOT of pictures of short hair.<br />
<br />
Like, a lot a lot.<br />
<br />
I have a history of getting a big chop every ten years or so, and it's been longer than that now, that I have had long hair.<br />
<br />
I really like my hair long, but all through the Fall and Winter I wear scarves and high collars, and let me tell you, the rat's nest that develops after about an hour if I leave my hair down is pretty impressive. So much so that I am actually ripping hair out in order to comb it through.<br />
<br />
This year, this is really getting to me.<br />
SO!<br />
I am thinking about short hair more and more.<br />
Like daily.<br />
<br />
These are my favorite shots of short hair right now.<br />
The Pixie cuts are probably shorter than I will go, at least at first, but I LOVE them!<br />
<i>(Plus ten years ago I didn't wear glasses everyday AND I had free time in the mornings to actually DO stuff to it. Now, not so much)</i><br />
<br />
*All of these pictures can be found in my <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/janamade/short-hair/" target="_blank">Short Hair</a> board, with accompanying links*<br />

I think I'm getting closer to being ready.<br />
There is a lot going on over in these here parts right now though so I need to be REALLY sure before I make any drastic changes, in order to avoid the teenager style freak out if if am not totally sure.<br />
Because that's a possibility. Haircuts have made me cry before.<br />
Yes, as an adult. <br />
<br />
Maybe in the Spring? Get through the holidays and Geoff's degree first?<br />

<i><br /></i>
<i>This is in no way a "Hey you need to buy me this stuff" post.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Just so we're clear.</i><br />
<br />
Ahem, Dear Santa,<br />
<br />
I have been a good Girl this year, really I have! You should keep an eye on my Kid too, he's pretty spectacular.<br />
<br />
But let's just focus on me for a moment, shall we?<br />
<br />
This is my wishlist, in no particular order...<br />
<br />
<b>Exhibit A:</b><br />
<a href="http://www.forlifedesign.com/shop/popup_contents/cafe-style/344-color.html#" target="_blank">Forlife Coffee Press</a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IyEhi8ikFN8/UpI-ND14cZI/AAAAAAAAEuk/RXmCFr4fjPg/s1600/344-OLI.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IyEhi8ikFN8/UpI-ND14cZI/AAAAAAAAEuk/RXmCFr4fjPg/s400/344-OLI.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
I will be using this gorgeous creature to make tea, likely several times a day, since we are all Tea People around here. I have a couple Forlife products already and they are all in high rotation. Their tea strainers are incredibly fine and hardy and this green colour is kind of killing me right now. I would also be super stoked with a White one.<br />
<i>(We had a glass Bodum a few years ago that we had taken up to the lake, and we accidentally smashed it into a million tiny pieces one Spring morning trying to surprise a mouse out of the kitchen. Which is Impossible by the way. You can't surprise a mouse anywhere. Those buggers are fast.)</i><br />
<br />
<b>Exhibit B</b>:<br />
<a href="http://bario-neal.com/jewelry/cocktail-boutique-rings/val-ring" target="_blank">Bario Neal "Val" Ring</a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wFtowp5YeAE/UpI_9FIhWEI/AAAAAAAAEuw/l4J91QM_Upw/s1600/val_ring_brass_3_web.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="367" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wFtowp5YeAE/UpI_9FIhWEI/AAAAAAAAEuw/l4J91QM_Upw/s400/val_ring_brass_3_web.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
I have Pinned this ring and stared at it for ages.<br />
It's totally affordable, completely beautiful and I just love it.<br />
I am trying to decide if I would wear it on my ring finger (size 5.5) or on my middle finger (size 6) but I am torn. Perhaps Santa, I will leave that in your hands.<br />
<br />
<b>Exhibit C:</b><br />
<a href="http://lenacorwin.com/" target="_blank">"Made By Hand" by Lena Corwin</a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Pfed6tBa3Yo/UpJBIPTPoEI/AAAAAAAAEu4/9247tGAJf8s/s1600/home.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Pfed6tBa3Yo/UpJBIPTPoEI/AAAAAAAAEu4/9247tGAJf8s/s400/home.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I have been a fan of Lena Corwin for some time now, and I am a HUGE advocate for making things with your own hands. I am excited to check out this book.<br />
<br />
<b>Exhibit D:</b><br />
<a href="http://www.leuchtturm1917.com/en/content/medium-notebook" target="_blank">Leuchtturm1917 "dotted" Notebooks</a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3mHBYcgjDAU/UpJCum6BBYI/AAAAAAAAEvE/44ls34NuIuI/s1600/Messewand+769x492_0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="255" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3mHBYcgjDAU/UpJCum6BBYI/AAAAAAAAEvE/44ls34NuIuI/s400/Messewand+769x492_0.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I discovered these incredible Notebooks a few years ago and I can't use anything else for a sketchbook EVER AGAIN. I'm not even joking, I've tried. They are available in a variety of colours, of which you pick Santa I do not care, but the thing that I DO care about, that I really LOVE about these notebooks is that there are several different ways in which the pages are lined. And it's the DOTTED pages that are hard to find around here and they are may absolute favorite.<br />
<i>(You can find them at Bolen Books here in town, although they haven't had them while renovating so I am really hoping that they get some new ones in before Christmas.)</i><br />
<i>This is a gift that I would LITERALLY use every single day.</i><br />
<br />
<b>Exhibit E:</b><br />
<a href="http://www.etsy.com/giftcards?ref=so_giftcards" target="_blank">Etsy Gift card.</a><br />
I feel like this is pretty self explanatory here Santa. <br />
Mama wants to shop Etsy.<br />
<br />
You can just email it to me!<br />
<b><br /></b>
<b>Exhibit F:</b><br />
Cash for Tattoos.<br />
Yep, that's what I said. I can't justify spending any money myself on new ink right now, but the hankering is starting to settle in and I am itching for new ink! I want to finish my back and I have a couple of sweet sentimental tattoos that I would like to get in the next year or so, so I am starting the Fund!<br />
<br />
<b>Exhibit G:</b><br />
Dremel Hand Tool<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k0yMMKh85Nc/UpJFXuSp6wI/AAAAAAAAEvQ/yswlShAEGMY/s1600/demel_8200_hand.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k0yMMKh85Nc/UpJFXuSp6wI/AAAAAAAAEvQ/yswlShAEGMY/s400/demel_8200_hand.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Yeah, Mama loves tools.<br />
I have been getting back into wax carving for Casting lately and one of these sexy little numbers would will round out my kit nicely. Then I wouldn't have to be at my bench to work, I could set myself up at the kitchen table and work after Sonny goes to bed. This is nice for me, because I am REALLY digging setting up the ipad with old Bones episodes on Netflix and working away. I'll carve a ring while "watching" up to three episodes in a row!<br />
<br />
Such good fun!<br />
Any hardware store should have one of these Santa, if the Elves still have a hard time with electronics.*<br />
<br />
<b>Exhibit H:</b><br />
Cordless Hand Drill<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-akUVMaS7KS0/UpJHSguRj-I/AAAAAAAAEvc/AJ1TpbHjH3g/s1600/cordless-drill-374.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="342" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-akUVMaS7KS0/UpJHSguRj-I/AAAAAAAAEvc/AJ1TpbHjH3g/s400/cordless-drill-374.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Yep, another tool. I have been mooching Papere's rad Red drill anytime I have a project in the house and I think that it might be time for me to have one of my own. I don't know what the Make of his is, it's red, I think there is a "V" in the name somewhere... this is super helpful I know. But you have magical powers so I'm going to let you figure this out.<br />
It comes in it's own own red case, has two rechargable battery packs and a kit of different bits.<br />
Oh it's just a dream.<br />
<br />
<b>Exhibit I:</b><br />
A weekend off.<br />
I have a toddler and a husband who is kicking his Honour's Dregree's Ass and I want to get the F out of Dodge for a night or two and know that they are both being taken care of and fed and whatnot, and I don't want to ask Geoff to set aside any school time so I can do it.<br />
So if you can send an elf or two my way, and maybe see fit to dropping a little spending money into the pot <i>(I would consider a trip to the mainland with a girlfriend as TOTALLY acceptable)</i> I would make sure that I enjoyed every second of it.<br />
For real.<br />
<b><br /></b>
<b>Exhibit J:</b><br />
This one is a bit tricky because it's kind of vague.<br />
But I'll just put the word out and let you ponder it.<br />
<br />
I have some incredibly talented friends, and I covet their wares.<br />
<u>Toy & Ming</u> makes incredible clothes, her current line has a denim dress that is KILLING me and I covet so bad.<br />
<a href="http://blackbirdstudios.me/" target="_blank"><u>BlackbirdStudio</u> </a>makes insanely beautiful ceramics and I always want more of her mugs.<br />
<i>(I will admit that I have a bit of a Mug Problem, but now is not the time to reign that in.)</i><br />
<a href="http://www.floatinggoldiceberg.ca/" target="_blank"><u>Floating Gold Iceberg</u></a> is a consistent winner.<br />
<a href="http://www.bonspielcreation.biz/" target="_blank"><u>BonspielCreation</u></a> makes these leather mittens that I don't need but really WANT. Perfect for long walks with the stroller!<br />
<br />
So, I don't know, can you just come and shop the Holiday Markets with me? I can point everything out and try stuff on and you can see just how rad it all is.<br />
<i>(there is a list of them on the left) </i><br />
<br />
I am going to pause here because I feel like I am getting a bit gluttonous.<br />
But there you have it Santa, a list of loves from little ol' me.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<i>*When we were kids, whenever we asked Mom and Dad to pass on our lists to Santa, if there was a Video game or any electronic toy on the list the story was that Elves Don't Do Electronics.</i><br />
<i>We have never questioned this logic.</i><br />
<br />
<i><br /></i>

Tomorrow night, my dear friends, is the first night of what will become a fantastic annual holiday event!<br />
The vendor list is incredible, the venue is going to be GORGEOUS, and there will be music and food and I intend to get ridiculous by the end of Friday night.<br />
<br />
As only I can. <br />
<i>Which means eating far too many chocolate covered almonds and laughing loudly and inappropriately at everyone's jokes.</i><br />
<br />
Also, as if it alone isn't enough, every vendor has contributed handmade items for SWAG BAGS, and the first 50 people through the door each day gets one!<br />
<br />
I've been working my little fingers to the bone building inventory for this show, and I have completely revamped my booth set up so if nothing else, come and take a look at the new display!<br />
<br />
It's going to be good people.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3902206545471899785.post-58318891013881819352013-11-01T16:28:00.000-07:002013-11-01T16:28:08.268-07:00Custom Wave Wedding Bands<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eLrNM7Nah7k/UmtIb5sI3kI/AAAAAAAAErc/QijTPS4kyp0/s1600/20130908-3M8A8657.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eLrNM7Nah7k/UmtIb5sI3kI/AAAAAAAAErc/QijTPS4kyp0/s640/20130908-3M8A8657.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This kid. Oh my god this kid.<br />
This kid who is vivacious, charming, sensitive and hilarious.<br />
<br />
He kills me every day with some look or phrase or sweet snuggle and everyday I fall in love.<br />
<br />
All over again. Because holy shit, do I love this kid.<br />
<br />
I would eat him alive if I could.<br />
I. Would. Eat. Him. Alive!<br />
<br />
He's starting to lose his sweet baby smell, so that there are times now when I snatch him up and squeeze him and breath him in, I get something new and frankly sometimes pretty gross <i>(he has started refusing to let us wash his hair. It's become a Thing.)</i> Plus he's a little kid and is often getting into things.<br />
<br />
Case in point; the other day we were at the playground and he got very excited when he found some poop.<br />
"DAD! Check it OUT!"<br />
<br />
"What is it Buddy?"<br />
<br />
"Just some dog poop"<br />
<br />
"DON'T TOUCH IT!!" <i>(this was both of us hollering this one)</i><br />
<br />
"Just a little touch!" and he does, just one finger, into the poop <i>(UGH!)</i> and off he races, screaming his laughter behind him while we chase him through the grass.<br />
<br />
But it's still lingers, that sweet baby smell <i>(NOT the poop thank goodness)</i> so that this afternoon I let him climb up on my lap when I was working on the computer and we opened up youtube so he would sit still watching Buzz Lightyear or Spiderman or whatever the heck it was, and I could squeeze him and breath it all in.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
It's interesting the things that I notice now because Sonny needs to look at EVERYTHING with incredible curiosity and intensity.<br />
<br />
He noticed these little blossoms on our front path and I am sure I never would have if he didn't ask me what they were.<br />
<br />
And then I would have missed them! <br />
<br />
Star blossoms? Seriously Ms. Nature?<br />

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Coming back to this space after writing the last post was much harder than I anticipated it would be.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And I thought it would be hard.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But every time I came here, and saw the photos of him, I couldn't do it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There was something too final and too sad about it and I flinched every time. So I said "tomorrow", and then I said it again.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I said it a lot actually.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But in all that time, I was working, spending time working with my hands and not letting my head get too involved and it was something that I needed to do I think.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
To bring me back to a place where I understood that the Goodbyes had been said, but that he was never really going to leave us. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I took some pictures, and made more with my hands and felt a change coming that I think has been in the air for a while. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Nothing too drastic, just a shift in perspective and clearer understanding of where I want to take this business of mine, and of taking steps to learn how to do this better.<br />
Because if you have been reading this ridiculous blog for very long, you will have noticed that I am a bit of a wanderer when it comes to content.<br />
I like things that are silly.<br />
<br />
I like things that are light. And easy.<br />
<br />
But this summer has not been easy. And it has not been light. And it has led me to a place where I am finally seeing this Thing that I Do, this handmade life I am making for myself and my family, in a new way.<br />
<br />
A way that, I hope, will create a path to living the life that I want.<br />
Not just the life I am given.<br />
<br />
I expect that I will come back to silly. Probably sooner than I would like to think I will.<br />
<i>(Let's be honest, I am still ME after all)</i><br />
<br />
But I am clearing some clutter from this space. From my life too.<br />
<i>(you should see my closet, I am paring down in all nooks and crannies.)</i><br />
<br />
I read something that stuck with me recently.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HZRt7HS2_oI/Uh14_8Oh5DI/AAAAAAAAEpg/YlVWcBlgjpU/s1600/f08f12ed728d38638eed36f95cdaa8c9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HZRt7HS2_oI/Uh14_8Oh5DI/AAAAAAAAEpg/YlVWcBlgjpU/s320/f08f12ed728d38638eed36f95cdaa8c9.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Identify the Essential. Eliminate the rest.<br />
<a href="http://awelltraveledwoman.tumblr.com/" target="_blank">(I found it while browsing here)</a><br />
<br />
I have taken it to heart. And I am working very hard to make the life that I want. For myself and my family.<br />
<br />
If I haven't already lost you, I hope that you consider sticking around and seeing what we get up to.<br />

<br />
It's been so hard, adjusting to this new normal, without him.<br />
<br />
But it was time. He had been declining for a while and we knew it was coming.<br />
<br />
But it's still hard to let go of him.<br />
